On 2nd March 2023, with the help of CDO, our college students had the opportunity to attend a seminar on career advancement and development titled "Ace Your Career with Dr Aamir Burny”. Once the recitation of the Holy Quran was done, Dr Aamir took charge of the stage. He started by sharing about the career options in the UK, followed by his pre-session preparation techniques.

Dr Aamir's presentation on support systems for international medical graduates in the UK was informative and inspiring. He shared resources for navigating the complex process of obtaining medical licensure in the UK and building a supportive network of colleagues and mentors. He also shared the importance of audits, publications, and research work. The students found this to be particularly helpful and reassuring. He further explained the importance of communication and active listening in constructing a patient's medical history and tips on how to nearly master perfect history taking. “Patient tells the history, and Doctor constructs history”. His presentation emphasized the need for doctors to be empathetic and to develop excellent communication skills to serve their patients better. Dr Aamir shared the importance of developing skills in medical school; one of them was taking a good history, which is an essential skill for us as medical students, and it was great to receive practical tips and guidance on how to do this effectively. Dr Aamir provided valuable information on how to make your CV stand out from the rest, including the importance of tailoring your CV to the specific job you are applying for, highlighting your key achievements, and formatting it correctly. Mastering CV is a valuable skill, especially for a medical student or professional seeking employment in the competitive job market.
