 “ Learn through our Experience: Road to USMLE STEP-1 ’’


Career guiding sessions play vital role in in informed decision making, avoiding missteps, long term success, maximizing the potential of the individual in the career and fostering the confidence related to field.

Keeping in view the above Career Development Office led the way to another career guidance by organizing an interactive session on Road to USMLE step 1 by IMDC alumni Dr Balaj Sarwar. It was a matter of pride and prestige that the alumni's of IMDC are spread in every direction of medicine and are keenly interested to mentor the upcoming graduates.

Session took place on August 17,2023 at 9:30 am in which students from different years of MBBS department appeared as an attendee. Dr Balaj taking the lead started with basic on ground reason of attempting this exam. The session was well-structured in format, coupled with the active engagement it encouraged, significantly enriched understanding of the rigorous journey toward this pivotal examination. The platform's interactive nature allowed for real-time clarification of doubts, fostering a sense of inclusivity and shared learning.

One of the most valuable takeaways was the emphasis on a comprehensive understanding of foundational concepts. The speaker's guidance on effective study techniques, resource utilization, and time management strategies were particularly enlightening. Additionally, the discourse on resilience and maintaining a balanced approach to exam preparation resonated deeply, acknowledging the challenges while promoting a sustainable mindset.

As the session continued, speaker was presented with multiple queries by the students which were addressed very thoroughly and showed the great response of audience. Along with it, there was a segment of discussion on the aspects of USMLE other than academics such as financial cost, affordability, practical approach, timing of appearing in the examination and much more.

Later as the session was about to conclude, the brain behind such academic activities Prof Dr Iram Iqbal was called upon the stage to present the shield to Dr Balaj. In her concluding remarks director CDO addressed the audience and encouraged to sit in in the competitive examinations and ensured that CDO as well the college will be providing maximum support to their students.

In conclusion, the interactive session orchestrated by the CDO on the 'Road to USMLE Step 1' stands as a testament to the institution's dedication to students' academic journey. This experience has not only fortified our exam preparation but also underscored the significance of collaborative learning and informed, well-rounded approaches to achieving our academic aspirations.
