Past, Present & Future of Paediatric Surgery
On 22nd of December, CDO hosted another successful event. The guest speaker of the event was an esteemed personality, Dr Khizer Mansoor, who is currently a Paediatric & Neonatal Surgeon at Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital, Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, Norwich, United Kingdom. Among his other credentials, he’s also an Honorary Clinical Tutor at Medical & Nursing School, University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom. Surgical Tutor in Paediatric Surgery for core surgical trainees and paediatric surgery residents.
This seminar was also the host to our honorable and esteemed departments from ANTH and IMDC, with HOD surgery - Prof Dr. Ahmad RAaza, HOD anaesthesiology - PROF Dr. Shoaib, HOD Anatomy – Prof. Dr. Saffia , HOD Paediatrics - Prof Dr. Rubina, and our Director CDO- Prof Dr. Iram Iqbal.
The event took off with the recitation of the Holy Quran after which our exceptionally qualified guest speaker Dr. Khizar Mansoor came on stage to commence the seminar.
Dr. Khizar Manzoor's topic of discussion was Past, Present, and Future of Paediatric Surgery. He first, talked about his journey from Pakistan to the Uk and how he completed his training in Paediatric surgery. After which, Dr. Khizar discussed the paradigm that the UK is setting when it comes to Paediatric surgery in the world. With insight into its sub and super specialties and how the surgical department is working in synergy with medicine and radiology. Keeping this in the audience’s mind, he also outlook some of the shortcomings in Pakistan healthcare, specifically the paeds department, and how it can be improved in terms of quality and effectiveness.
The seminar came to an end with a concluding note by Director CDO Prof. Dr. Iram Iqbal and then with the distribution of prizes and souvenirs as an appreciation for our guest speaker by Our patron in chief Mr. Yasir Niazi.
