Pathways for practicing in UK: A Career guide for GPs
The Career Development Office (CDO) organized a seminar for the students and all the health care professionals of IMDC to have an insight into the practical steps and requirements to practice as a GP in UK on 30th August 2024 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at the IMDC Main Auditorium. The event was planned under the leadership of Dr. Iram Iqbal, Director CDO and well executed by the esteemed guests Dr. Shamaillah Mufti MBBS, MRCGP, GP Partner at St John’s Medical Centre Grantham, UK. And Dr. Shafiq Mufti MBBS, MRCP, MRCGP, GP Partner at St John’s Medical Centre Grantham, UK. Along with them Vice Chancellor Major General Retired Dr. Aslam, Advisor to Chairman Prof Dr. Khalid Hassan, Director Hospital Dr. Amjad, and col retired Mujtaba and Around 120 students and faculty members attended the event. Guests arrived at the venue by 9:50 AM, received by Dr. Iram Iqbal and CDIs. Students were seated, and seminar began at 10:00 AM. It was a very intellectual seminar where Dr. Shamaillah Mufti presented a presentation for the basic knowledge and overview of how to become a GP in UK, the necessary documentation, GP Vocational Training Scheme and MRCGP Exam. She also mentioned how flexible it is to work as a GP in the UK, how one can maintain a work life balance and earn a good income. Everyone is trying to get the shortest route possible and enjoy a better life, for those people it’s such a great option to consider. It became very interesting when students started interaction with the speakers, there was a prolonged question answer session which our speakers efficiently dealt with. All the queries were answered by the end of the seminar. Vice Chancellor Major General Retired Dr. Aslam spoke after the guests acknowledged their presence and how helpful their knowledge would prove for their students and faculty members. The Guests were presented with a shield of Honor by Vice Chancellor Major General Retired Dr. Aslam, Principal IMDC and Prof. Dr. Iram Iqbal. The guests were then escorted for high tea. The seminar turned out to be informative and successful because of cooperation among the organizers. I really appreciate such thoughtful events and hope to see such speakers often addressing our concerns among the diverse pathway in this field.
