A Promising Career in Medicine in the UK
The seminar on ‘Promising Career in Medicine in the Uk’ commenced on 9th June 2022. Students from various academic years started pouring into the auditorium and within seconds eager faces waited, seated for the informative session to begin. This educational seminar was organized with the collaboration of The Hive Medical Academy which is based in Islamabad and their partners, The Arlington British Medical Academy based in the UK.
The seminar promptly took off with a beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the opening note by the hosts and a brief introduction of the guest speakers called on to conduct the seminar.
The first speaker Ms. Mariam Mustafa, the country head at Hive Medical Academy was called upon to inform and enlighten students with the guidelines necessary for opting a career in medicine in the UK. She told the students a bit about the Hive Academy, how they operate and what they offer for students wanting to further their career in the UK. She weighed in on the pros and cons of preparing for PLAB with the help of Hive Academy and how the academy helps students reach their target till the very end of their medical career journey. By the end of her bit, students got a clear understanding of the whole process of qualifying and enrolling in NHS-UK.
Next up was Mrs. Noreen Mirza, the Director of Training & Development at Hive Academy, who gave a riveting presentation about the importance of the English language in Medicine and explained the process of IELTS and OET. Being a former examiner of IELTS, she gave an insight into the mind of an IELTS examiner and what the examiner expects from the students on the test day. She had immaculate command of the English Language and kept the audience engaged till the very end of her time.
The third speaker of the day, Mrs. Dee Redcliff, Director of administration at Arlington British Medical Academy joined the seminar via zoom meeting and gave a short introduction to Arlington British Medical Academy, its’ history, and the work they do for medical students to land them a position at NHS-UK. She informed the students about the essentials needed to prepare for PLAB and how the academy equips its students with the necessary tools to overcome hurdles during their PLAB journey.
Last but not least, Dr. Zubair Ahmed also tuned in via zoom to further acquaint and familiarize students with the intricacies of PLAB and NHS and how the Arlington British Medical Academy can play a crucial role in a medical student’s career. He also gave an insight into what goes on in their classrooms at the academy in the UK and also shared his personal experiences and anecdotes of when he was a wee medical student starting his journey in the UK.
The seminar concluded with a short Q&A session in which the students further cleared their doubts about the procedure of enrolling in NHS and PLAB. The Q&A was followed by a closing note by Muhammad Bin Amjad after which shields and certificates were distributed amongst the guest speakers
